WASHINGTON -- The government has added Egypt to its list of the world's worst violators of religious rights.
A government report on religious freedom, which is released annually, said the situation in Egypt for religious minorities, especially Coptic Christians, has deteriorated markedly since former President Hosni Mubarak (HAHS'-nee moo-BAH'-rahk) resigned in February.
China also is on the list of worst violators, compiled by the Commission on International Religious Freedom. In opening remarks as he released the report Thursday, commission Chairman Leonard Leo accused China of trying to hack into the commission's emails.
