Afsaneh Emami

Afsaneh Emami was imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.

On February 2, 2019, authorities arrested Emami and searched her home, confiscating books, electronics, and other personal belongings.

On March 16, 2019, Emami was released on bail.

In 2021, it was reported that Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced Emami to three years in prison for "membership in organizations that aim to disrupt national security" (Art. 499 IPC).

On July 18, 2021, Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals confirmed Emami's sentence.

On August 1, 2022, Emami was taken into custody to begin serving her sentence in Evin Prison.

In February 2023, it was reported that Emami had been released from prison.

Emami's husband, Saeed Naseri, is also imprisoned for his religious belief and activity.
