On January 10, 2022, police in Draggo (Luhuo) county, Kardze (Ganzi) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (TAP), Sichuan province, detained three pilgrims, including Dortra, on their way home from the Buddhist monastic complex at Larung Gar in Sertar (Seda) county, Kardze TAP, to Dragyab (Chaya) county, Chamdo municipality, Tibet Autonomous Region. Authorities searched their phones and found images of recent demolitions of Buddha statues at Draggo Monastery in Draggo county.

Hiwa Yazdan Mehdi Abadi was imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.
On May 30, 2020, security forces arrested Abadi in Yazd.
In September 2020, Abadi was released on bail.
On an unspecified date, Branch 2 of the Yazd Revolutionary Court reportedly sentenced Abadi to two years and eight months in prison for "membership in organizations that aim to disrupt national security" (Art. 499 IPC) and eight months in prison for "propaganda against the state" (Art. 500 IPC).
In October/November 2021, Branch 11 of the Yazd Court of Appeals reportedly acquitted Abadi of "membership in organizations that aim to disrupt national security" (Art. 499 IPC) and upheld her eight-month sentence for "propaganda against the state" (Art. 500 IPC).
On December 13, 2021, security forces arrested Abadi from her home and sent her to Yazd Prison to begin serving her sentence.
On an unspecified date, Abadi was reportedly released after completing her sentence.
