Airat Usmanov was imprisoned for his religious belief and activity.
On January 17, 2017, authorities arrested Usmanov after accusing him of organizing a meeting to indoctrinate people to support the banned Tablighi Jamaat movement and study its literature.
On September 17, 2018, the Babushkinsky District Court of Moscow sentenced Usmanov to four years in prison for “participating in the activities of a public or religious association, or any other organization in respect of which a court has adopted a final decision to liquidate or ban activities in connection with extremist activities” (Art. 282.2-2 RCC).
On an unspecified date, Usmanov was released following the end of his sentence.
