Extra Bio Info:

Aramis Fazylov is imprisoned for his religious belief and activity.

On February 4, 2015, authorities placed Fazylov under house arrest after accusing him of being a member of the banned Hizb ut-Tahrir organization. He was charged with “participating in the activities of an organization…recognized as terrorist” (Art. 205.5-2 RCC).

There are conflicting reports on whether or not Fazylov was granted bail prior to his sentencing.

On July 30, 2018, the Volga District Military Court sentenced Fazylov to five years in prison for “participating in the activities of an organization…recognized as terrorist” (Art. 205.5-2 RCC) and fined him 100,000 rubles.  He was taken into custody following the verdict. Fazylov's sentence was significantly lower than his colleagues arrested alongside him because he reportedly plead guilty.
