Cai Ruhua is imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.
On March 23, 2017, authorities detained Cai, a member of the Church of Almighty God, in relation to her religious activities. Police reportedly confiscated religious materials and other electronics at the home Cai was detained. There are reports that Cai was tortured while at the Ji’an Detention Center.
On January 4, 2018, Cai was reportedly charged with "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
On an unspecified date, the Jizhou District People’s Court sentenced Cai to 8 years in prison and fined her 15,000 yuan. She was later transferred to Jiangxi Women’s Prison.
