On November 15, 2018, police from the Gaoqing County Public Security Burea detained Chen in relation to her religious beliefs and evangelizing activities.
In December 2019, the Zhangdian District People’s Court of Zibo City sentenced Chen to eight years in prison and fined her 20,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
