On April 14, 2019, police from the Dongxiang District Public Security Bureau in Fuzhou city, Jiangxi province, detained Chen reportedly in relation to his religious beliefs and writings.
On December 20, 2019, the Linchuan District People’s Court of Fuzhou City sentenced Chen to seven years in prison and fined her 30,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
