In 2018, authorities in Atush (Atushi) city, Kizilsu (Kezilesu) Kyrgyz Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), detained Dadihan, an imam, reportedly in relation to his religious activity and work as an imam. Dadihan's detention came amid mass detentions of largely Muslim ethnic minorities in XUAR.
