Gabdrakhman Naumov

Gabdrakhman Naumov is imprisoned for his religious belief and activity. 

in March 2020, authorities arrested Naumov, an Islamic scholar at the Russian Islamic University and a former imam, after accusing him of leading a Nurcular cell. They claimed that he had organized the activities of the group and held meetings for it. 

On November 2, 2021, the Privolzhsky District Court of Kazan sentenced Naumov to six years and six months in prison for “organizing the activities of a public or religious association or other organization in respect of which a court has adopted a final decision to liquidate or ban activities in connection with extremist activities” (Art. 282.2-1 RCC) and “collecting funds…intended to finance the organization, preparation and commission of at least one of the crimes of an extremist orientation, or to ensure the activities of an extremist community or an extremist organization” (Art. 282.3-1 RCC).

On February 8, 2022, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tatarstan upheld Naumov's sentence.

On July 21, 2022, the Sixth Court of Cassations in Samara upheld Naumov's sentence.

Naumov has four children.
