Hu Yanling is imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.
On October 11, 2018, authorities arrested Hu in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR). Reports suggest that authorities targeted her because she was responsible for church affairs and provided religious materials to other Church of Almighty God Christians.
On September 4, 2019, the Kuitun City People’s Court sentenced Hu to six years in prison and fined her 30,000 yuan on charges of "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
