Huma Younus was forced to renounce her faith.
On October 10, 2019, Younus - 14 years old at the time - was abducted, forcibly converted, and coerced into marrying her abductor. Her family thus filed a police report arguing that the certificates of marriage and conversion that Younus's abductor presented as legal documents claimed that she was 18 at the time of the incident instead of her actual age.
In February 2020, it was reported that the Sindh High Court rejected a petition to have Younus returned to her family.
In July 2020, it was reported that Younus was pregnant.
