Jiang Yanghua is imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.
On August 21, 2019, authorities from Aksu city detained Jiang in Aksu, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), reportedly in relation to her religious activity.
On June 9, 2020, Jiang was sentenced to 15 years in prison and five years' deprived political rights for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL). She was also fined 100,000 yuan.
