Khamid Igamberdyev is imprisoned for his religious belief and activity.

On December 6, 2016, authorities arrested Igamberdyev after accusing him of being a member of the banned Hizb ut-Tahrir organization. Prosecutors accused him of organizing in Hizb ut-Tahrir meetings, studying the organization's literature, discussing political and religious issues, and seeking to attract new members for the organization.

On February 15, 2019, the Moscow District Military sentenced Igamberdyev to 16 years in prison for "organizing the activities of an organization…recognized as terrorist" (Art. 205.5-1 RCC).

On September 19, 2019, Igamberdyev's sentence was upheld.

On September 28, 2021, Igamberdyev was sentenced to three years in prison for "publicly justifying terrorism or terrorism propaganda" (Art. 205.2-1 RCC) for conversations he allegedly had about Hizb ut-Tahrir with his cellmates. 

Igamberdyev is expected to serve a total of 17 years and six months in prison.

Igamberdyev is married with one child.
