Lina Lutfiawati is imprisoned for her online religious expression.
In May 2023, police charged Lutfiawati with "disseminating information aimed at inflicting hatred or dissension on individuals and/or certain groups of community based on ethnic groups, religions, races, and inter-groups” (Art. 28 Electronic Information and Transaction (ITE)) for posting a video on social media in which she uttered an Islamic prayer before eating pork, a food considered haram in Islam. According to court documents, the Indonesia Ulema Council, a quasi-governmental organization, told the court Luftiawati's actions were blasphemous against Islam.
In September 2023, an Indonesian court sentenced Lutfiawati to two years in prison and fined her 250 million rupiah.
