Meng Lingli was imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.
On April 12, 2018, officers from the Public Security Bureau in the Mosuowan Reclamation Area detained Meng reportedly for her religious beliefs.
On March 29, 2019, the Mosuowan Reclamation Area People’s Court in Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps sentenced Meng to five years and six months in prison and fined her 8,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
Meng's sentence should have ended in October 2023.
