Noman Asghar is imprisoned and sentenced to death for blasphemy.
On June 29, 2019, authorities arrested Asghar and his friend, Sunny Mushtaq, and charged them with "insulting the Prophet Muhammad" (Sec. 295-C PPC), reportedly in relation to sketches of the Prophet Muhammad the two received via WhatsApp.
On May 30, 2023, a court in Bahawalpur, Punjab province, sentenced Asghar to death.
