Qadir Rehim is imprisoned for his religious activity and ethnoreligious identity.
In April 2017, authorities in Kashgar city, Kashgar prefecture, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), detained Rehim and his sister, Munewwer Rehim, in relation to the funerals they held for their parents. The funerals were in accordance to Islamic customs and had too many people in attendance according to authorities. Rehim's detention came amid mass detentions of largely Muslim ethnic minorities in XUAR in 2017 and 2018.
On an unspecified date, Rehim was reportedly sentenced to 15 years in prison on unspecified charges.
