Ran Mengqun is imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.

On May 17, 2017, authorities from the Wuling town in Wanzhou district detained Ran while doing work for the church at a church member's home.

On December 7, 2017, Ran was released on bail.

On March 1, 2019, Ran was arrested again.

On August 2, 2019, Kaizhou District People’s Court in Chongqing sentenced Ran to seven years and six months in prison and fined her 12,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).

On September 18, 2019, the Chongqing No. 2 Intermediate People’s Court rejected Ran's appeal.
