Reena was forced to renounce her faith.

In March 2019, armed men reportedly kidnapped Reena, a Hindu girl who was 14-years old at the time, and her sister Raveena, who was 15-years old at the time, from their home in Gotki district, Sindh province.

At a later date in March 2019, the two girls were converted to Islam and married to Muslim men. Reena's age was registered as 18 on the conversion and legal documents. Reena reportedly got married in Punjab province, where the legal age to get married is 16 as opposed to Sindh, which is 18.

In late March 2019, the Islamabad High Court ordered that Reena and her sister be placed in a women's shelter after their family filed a first information report (FIR) alleging the two had been abducted for conversion purposes.

On April 11, 2019, the Islamabad High Court ruled that Reena and her sister had not been forced to convert religions and allowed them to continue living with their husbands.
