Siu Doang is imprisoned for his religious activity.
In 2016, authorities arrested Doang, a house-church leader, for participating in a religious group not approved by the government. Authorities accused him of using Degar Protestantism as a cover to support separatist activities. Doang was subsequently charged with "undermining national unity policy" (Art. 87/1999 VCC).
In July 2016, Doang was sentenced to eight years in prison and three to five years' probation.
