Tsultrim is imprisoned for his adherence to a religious figure.

In February/March 2023, authorities in Marthang county, Ngaba (Aba) Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture (T&QAP), Sichuan province, detained Tsultrim, a Tibetan businessman, reportedly after finding an image of the Dalai Lama on his phone.

In April 2023, the Aba T&QAP Intermediate People's Court sentenced Tsultrim to two years in prison for "contact[ing] separatists outside" Tibet, a reference to the Dalai Lama.
