Vadim Khabirov is imprisoned for his religious belief and activity.
On December 19, 2017, authorities arrested Khabirov after accusing him of leading activities for the banned Hizb ut-Tahrir organization, including reading religious literature, attracting new supporters, and holding meetings.
On November 13, 2018, the Volga District Military Court sentenced Khabirov to 16 years in prison and one year and six months of restricted freedom for "organizing the activities of an organization…recognized as terrorist" (Art. 205.5-1 RCC). It also fined him 200,000 rubles.
Khabirov has two children.
