Xu Guixiang was imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.

On January 10, 2018, officers from the Public Security Bureau in the Mosuowan Reclamation Area detained Xu reportedly in relation to her delivering of religious materials to other church members.

On April 1, 2019, the Mosuowan Reclamation Area People’s Court in Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps sentenced Xu to five years and six months in prison and fined her 8,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).

Xu's sentence should have ended in July 2023.
