Xu Guixiang is imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.
On January 22, 2018, officers from the Public Security Bureau in the Mosuowan Reclamation Area detained Xu reportedly in relation to her religious beliefs and religious leadership role.
On January 14, 2019, the Quanshan District People’s Court in Xuzhou city sentenced Xu to seven years and six months in prison for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL). Xu has reportedly been mistreated in prison because of her religion.
Xu is believed to be serving her sentence at Zhenjiang Women’s Prison in Jiangsu Province.
