Yang Chuanhou was imprisoned for his religious activity.
On October 3, 2018, authorities arrested Yang and several of his colleagues after accusing them of talking to people about Falun Gong.
In May 2019, the Anda City Court reportedly sentenced Yang to two years in prison and fined him 10,000 yuan. Yang was transferred to Hulan Prison in Heilongjiang Province.
On an unspecified date, the Suihua City Intermediate Court reportedly rejected Yang's appeal.
Yang was reportedly physically assaulted on multiple occasions by inmates and forced him into uncomfortable, bodily positions while imprisoned. Authorities also denied him proper medical care.
On October 2, 2020, Yang was released from prison after completing his sentence.
