Yue Yumei was imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.
On August 29, 2016, Bengbu police arrested Yue reportedly in relation to her hosting church members to film church videos and providing other support.
In July 2018, the Yuhui District People’s Court in Bengbu sentenced Yue to four years in prison and fined her 8,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
Yue's sentence should have ended in August 2020.
